Leicester boss Adams backs Fulham fans' campaign to return to Craven Cottage Back To The Cottage Press Release - 19/12/02
Fulham fans campaigning for a return to Craven Cottage received a boost
today with the support of former Fulham boss Micky Adams and his
assistant Alan Cork, now in charge at Division One high-flyers Leicester
City. Adams and Cork, in a joint statement, said today: "We understand
how important Craven Cottage is to Fulham supporters. The time we spent
at Fulham were happy days and we hope that Fulham Football Club can
return home soon." Adams and Cork were in charge when Fulham Football Club began their rise
through the divisions by winning promotion from Division Three in
1996/97 with a young side assembled with little money. Tom Greatrex, of BacktotheCottage.com, commented: "We are delighted that
Micky Adams and Alan Cork have shown their support for Fulham fans.
During their time at the Club, we experienced many magical matchdays at
the Cottage - Micky started the Fulham revival. An important part of
that time was, at last, being able to concentrate on the football as off
the field problems receded. What Fulham fans want now is for the Club to
keep their promise - to return to a redeveloped Craven Cottage as soon
as possible." Adams' support adds to that of Gordon Davies, Fulham's record
goalscorer, who has also endorsed the fans' group campaign to return to
Craven Cottage.
