Fulham legend Johnny Haynes backs fans’ group campaign

Back To The Cottage Press Release - 17/01/03

Fulham’s greatest ever player, former England captain Johnny Haynes, has given his full support to Fulham fans’ campaign BacktotheCottage.com.

Haynes, who has played more games at the historic Craven Cottage ground than any other player, said today: “Losing Craven Cottage now is unthinkable. After the years of struggle against property speculators, supporters will expect the Club to keep to its promise and return home. The Back to the Cottage campaign has my full support.”

Postcards with the quote from Johnny Haynes will be distributed to fans before the kick off at the game between Fulham and Middlesbrough at Loftus Road on Sunday. The cards also advertise the re-arranged date for the Back to the Cottage public meeting, to be held at Hammersmith Town Hall on Thursday 30 January at 7.30pm.

Speakers include former Fulham player, Tony Gale, Fulham’s Member of Parliament, Iain Coleman and Paul Thorpe, until recently internet manager at Fulham Football Club.
