Back To The Cottage Press Release - 03/06/04

ATTENTION: NEWS DESKS AND SPORTS CORRESPONDENTS – for immediate release

The Fulham Supporters’ Trust, which has been campaigning under the Back to the Cottage banner, is delighted at today’s news that the property company Fulham River Projects will no longer be developing Craven Cottage for housing.

Kevin Shea, Chair of the Trust, said “Since news of the conditional sale of The Cottage broke 18 months ago, Fulham fans have been deeply concerned that our ground would be replaced by eight blocks of flats. Today it appears that this threat is over, and so we rejoice.”

He added: “As the largest grouping of Fulham fans, we felt it our duty to expose some of the more secretive details of the Fulham River Projects deal. We also urged the Club to terminate the arrangement as they have thankfully now done. With this shadow lifted, we look forward to putting the unhappy experience of the last two seasons behind us and to helping the Club to build a successful long-term future at the redeveloped Craven Cottage.”
