Fans to launch Trust to promote return to Craven Cottage

Back To The Cottage Press Release - 01/05/03

Fulham fans' group, Back to the Cottage, will officially launch as an accredited Supporters Trust at a public meeting at Hammersmith Town Hall on Tuesday 6 May, starting at 7.30pm.

The meeting, which is to be chaired by Ealing North MP and lifelong Fulham fan Steve Pound, will also be presented with ideas which the group have researched to highlight how Fulham Football Club could return to the historic Craven Cottage site, possibly in time for the start of the 2004/05 season.

A new short film about Craven Cottage will also be shown for the first time, including footage from last Saturday's walk by fans from Stamford Bridge back to the Cottage.

As well as being invited to join the Supporters' Trust and get an update on the work done by the group so far, there will also be the opportunity for fans attending the meeting to have their say on the most pressing issue concerning Fulham Football Club.

With the news that discussions over a temporary groundshare at Stamford Bridge have broken down, and that Loftus Road can only be used for one more season, securing a return to the Craven Cottage site with a more economic redevelopment is of immediate importance.

Spokesman Tom Greatrex said: "In launching the Trust, we will be showing fans how a return to Craven Cottage could be achieved and we hope to shortly be able to meet with the Club as well. We want to be able to work with the football authorities, the local Council and ideally Fulham Football Club to enable the promised return to Craven Cottage to be realised."

Notes to Editors:

1. Back to the Cottage is the campaign name of the Fulham Supporters' Trust, which has been established with the support and assistance of the government funded Supporters Direct initiative.
